Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we hear most often.
Is my health data private?
Yes. Everything you log stays on your device in an encrypted store, and nothing is sent to any server of ours: no backend, no telemetry, no data collection. Lock the app with Face ID or Touch ID, and erase all your data at any time from within the app.
Do I need to create an account?
No. We IBD works with zero sign-up: no email, no password, no account of any kind. Open the app and start logging: the only optional step is iCloud sync, which uses your own Apple account, never one of ours.
Is We IBD a diagnosis tool?
No. We IBD is a personal self-tracking journal, not a medical device, and it does not diagnose or replace medical advice. Its indicators use recognised self-observation frameworks to help you spot patterns and prepare your consultation. Always discuss any concern with your doctor.
Which conditions is it for?
People living with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or IBS, or anyone who simply wants to track digestive symptoms. You pick a tracking profile at the start and the app adapts its reference frameworks and tone.
Does my data leave my device?
No health or symptom data leaves your device. Optional iCloud sync travels only through your own encrypted iCloud to your other Apple devices: never our servers.
Is it available?
We IBD is on the App Store and on Google Play. It works fully offline, needs no account, and your health data is never sent to us.
How much does We IBD cost?
Downloading and logging are free and unlimited, and so is the 21-day consultation report. The full version adds the analyses, the complete history and a 180-day report: €3.99 a month, €24.99 a year or €69.99 as a one-time purchase (euro prices, which may vary by country). No advertising, in any version.
Can I share my tracking with my gastroenterologist?
Yes. The app produces a consultation report as a PDF, built only from what you logged: stools (Bristol scale, blood, urgency), pain, flares, general state, treatments and lab results. You print it or send it yourself; nothing is shared automatically.
Does We IBD work with Apple Health and Health Connect?
Yes, if you allow it. On iPhone, We IBD can read your sleep, weight, physical activity, body temperature and other measurements from the Health app, and save your digestive symptoms to it. On Android, it reads comparable measurements (sleep, weight, steps, temperature) from Health Connect. This data stays on your device.
Is there an Apple Watch app?
Yes. From your Apple Watch you can log a stool with its pain, your fatigue or your stress in a few seconds, on the same scales as on the iPhone. A complication opens logging straight from the watch face.
Is We IBD suitable if I have an ostomy?
Yes. An “ostomy” setting adapts logging: stoma type, output volume and consistency, bag changes and the condition of the skin around the stoma, alongside blood and pain.
How is the health indicator calculated?
With published formulas, applied only to what you logged over the last 7 days: a bowel marker inspired by the Harvey-Bradshaw Index (Crohn's) or the partial Mayo score (ulcerative colitis), then fatigue and stress. No artificial intelligence is involved. Every calculation is detailed on the How it's calculated page.
Which languages and devices?
We IBD is available in English, French, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish and Arabic, on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android.
